Equipment for detector etching

Track-etched detectors are evaluated after etching in heated sodium hydroxide solution. During 2010, new etching equipment was purchased. The equipment consists of thermostatic water bath Nuve BM 402 and inert etching container made of teflon. Thanks for difficult teflon processing belongs to our colleague Vaclav Sykora.

Under the high temperature used for etching of track-etched detectors, teflon is very inert material. The photos show in detail the special universal detector holders. New equipment enables etching of large detector area up to 10x15 cm.
