Department of Radiation Dosimetry

The research activities of the department lie at the border of basic and applied research withing the fields of dosimetry and microdosimetry of ionizing radiation along with their applications in radiation protection, radiotherapy and radioecology. The studies often adopt an interdisciplinary approach, integrating principles from physics, chemistry, and biology. For futher please refer to our Research section. The department boasts unique equipment detailed in the Equipment section.

Established as an indipendent institute in 1953 by renowned Czech physisist František Běhounek, the Department of Radiation Dosimetry became part of the Nuclear Physics Institute of the CAS in 1994. In the same year, Frantisek Spurny assumed the role of director until his passing in 2010. From 2011 to 2022, the department was led by Marie Davídková.

Several of our colleagues serve lecturers at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, CTU in Prague and other universities. We are actively involved in supervising of bachelor´s, master´s, and doctoral research projects. For additional information, please visit our section For students.
