The new radio telescope Talíř 01 will receive signals also from the SPACEDOS dosimeter

At the Svákov Observatory near Soběslav, the operation of the Talíř 01 radio telescope has been put into operation on a magic date and time 2020-09-09 at 19:19 symbolically with the launch of the rocket. It is an astronomical instrument with the largest reflecting surface in the South Bohemian Region.
The radio telescope will be used to study space weather phenomena and meteors. The device is primarily intended for the observation of ionization traces of meteors, but its first task will be to receive data from the SPACEDOS dosimeter. This dosimeter, developed by the Department of Radiation Dosimetry (DRD) of the Nuclear Physics Institute (NPI), is one of several instruments on the Socrat-R satellite, which is currently orbiting the Earth. Data from it will also be used in the CRREAT project, which deals with high-energy phenomena in the Earth's atmosphere and research of cosmic radiation on ground, in the atmosphere, and in the low Earth orbits.
The ceremonial commissioning was attended by special guests: among others, Alena Šolcová, the chairwoman of the Union of Czech Mathematicians and Physicists, Petr Král, the chairman of the Czech Horological Association, Miloš Tichý, an astronomer from the České Budějovice Observatory and Planetarium with a Kleť branch, Jan Štrobl from the Prof. Fr. Nušl Observatory in Jindřichův Hradec, and Petr Bartoš from the Fr. Pešta Observatory in Sezimovo Ústí. The Svákov Observatory itself was represented by Martin Kákona from the DRD NPI and from the CRREAT project, chairman of the South Bohemian branch of the Czech Astronomical Society.
The radio telescope was named by Martin Jelínek, the head of the High Energy Astrophysics Group of the Astronomical Institute of the CAS. The commissioning of the radio telescope was also possible thanks to support from the Strategy AV21 program Space for Mankind.
