20. 12. 2024

On Tuesday, 17 December 2024, the 10th anniversary meeting of the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) of the FAIR-CZ project, coordinated by the NPI, took place in Vila Lana.
The meeting started with a presentation by Andrej Kugler (DHIP NPI), who emphasized that the in-kind contributions of the Czech Republic to the emerging FAIR infrastructure have already reached 2.5 million Euro, which is half of the amount needed to obtain higher membership status. Dr. Kugler also stated that the Czech contribution to the operation of FAIR should gradually increase and from 2029 should reach about 300 thousand EUR. Euro per year.
The amount of in-kind contributions was also appreciated by the SAC members of the project, highlighting the reliability of the Czech partners even for time-critical deliveries. The SAC also welcomed the growing role of Czech scientific teams, which was previously confirmed by the appointment of a Czech scientist as deputy head of the CBM experiment.
In addition to the coordination, scientists from the NPI are now working on the supply of ion conduits for the U100 accelerator itself of the emerging European infrastructure. Cyclotrons of the NPI (DA NPI) are used in the development of the methodology of the ASHES experiment, which aims to create a module for the separation and subsequent chemical identification of superheavy elements.
