The FAIR directors will speak on November 24 at the FNSPE CTU in Prague
23. 11. 2022
On Thursday, November 24, at 4:00 p.m., there will be a lecture by Prof. Paolo Giubellino, long-time head of the ALICE experiment at CERN and current scientific director of the FAIR accelerator infrastructure, and FAIR's technical director Jörg Blaurock, in auditorium B-103 at the FNSPE CTU in Prague.
Both will talk about the scientific content, potential discoveries, new technologies and technical challenges that await us in the construction and operation of FAIR. Dr. Pradeep Ghosh will then present the GET_Involved program, which will enable the participation of CTU students and researchers in internships and research within the framework of FAIR/GSI.
The lectures will be followed by a discussion meeting with FNSPE students and staff as well as other interested parties, including a discussion of scientific plans and job opportunities.
FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) is an international laboratory for antiproton and ion research, built in connection with the German National Center GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung in Darmstadt. As part of that project, one of the largest complexes of particle accelerators and experimental facilities in the world is being created. Institutions and companies from the Czech Republic are also participating in its construction, especially the NPI of the CAS, which also represents the Czech Republic as an associate member in FAIR.
Agenda:
16:00 - Universe in the lab (P. Giubellino)
16:30 - Technical challenges at Mega Science Facility (J. Blaurock)
17:00 - Opportunities at FAIR and GSI (P. Ghosh)
