As of 1 February 2025, there was a change in the management of the Department of Accelerators of the NPI. Based on an internal selection procedure, the new head became Associate Professor Milan Štefánik. The selection committee unanimously recommended him as a suitable candidate. Doc. Štefánik applied for the selection procedure as the only candidate.
Doc. Štefánik replaced Ing. Jan Štursa, who had successfully and dedicatedly led the Department for almost 30 years. Under his leadership, not only was the continuous modernization of the U120-M cyclotron and the microtron achieved, but also the acquisition of the new TR-24 cyclotron, while ensuring the highly successful operation of these facilities for both scientific and commercial purposes.
The NPI management thanks Mr. Stursa for his long and dedicated work and wishes Mr. Štefánik every success in his new role.
From internal selection procedures before Associate Professor Štefánik in the past year, two new senior managers emerged: Ing. Vít Jakubský, Ph.D., DSc., became the Head of the Department of Theoretical Physics (as of September 1, 2024), and RNDr. Filip Křížek, Ph.D., became the Head of the Department of Heavy Ion Physics (as of October 1, 2024).
