The verdict
At its closing session on November 28, 2011, the jury decided to award the main prize to
- Dr. Steffen Gielen
for the thesis Geometric Aspects of Gauge and Spacetime Symmetries which made important contributions to deformed space-time symmetries in classical General Relativity and CP violation in the electroweak sector of quantum chromo-dynamics.
The jury also decided to give a honourable mention to the thesis of
- Mgr. Martin Scholtz, Ph.D.
entitled Helical symmetry and the non-existence of asymptotically flat periodic solutions in general relativity for its author approach and the method he developed to generalize the Gibbons and Stewart theorem in General Relativity.
